Richard Harmer was at the Naval Air Station in Alameda on May 14, 1942. He had ferried a F4F-4 from Naval Air Station Oceana to Alameda. On May 14, 1942, these photos were taken. USS Saratoga is having a refit.

CXAM radar was installed on the forward end of the stack, SC-1 on the aft end. Note the battleship in the right background which is most probably USS Nevada (BB-38).
